Mission Refocus

Dear Church Family,

The Seventh-day Adventist mission flame was first lit almost 170 years ago, in a few small congregations meeting together on Sabbath mornings, but soon that flame was spreading around the world. It spread because Seventh-day Adventists looked beyond their own needs to a world in desperate need.

Those early Adventists said, “I will go. I will go beyond my country, beyond my language and beyond my comfort zone. I’ll light the heart flames of the unreached.”

There was a time when I and my family, and your family, were part of ‘the unreached’. Let’s thank God for the gift of life we’ve received, by sacrificially giving our time, our money, our talents — whole-of-life giving — to pass on the gospel flame of hope to others around the world.

The Seventh-day Adventist church was founded on sacrifice, it grew through sacrifice and it will continue to grow through that same Holy Spirit-driven sacrifice. It’s the selfless sacrifice of those who still believe that the gospel must be preached in all the world.

Let’s fire up the flames of global mission by including mission stories, videos and testimonies in our churches every Sabbath. And let’s go out and reach our unreached neighbours, people in the 10/40 Window, the world’s urban populations and those in post-Christian countries.

Thank you for all you have done, and are doing, to fulfil the crucial mission we’ve been given.

God Bless, Julian Archer, SPD Stewardship
